“ I have lived in Lossiemouth for 15 years or so and over the years have regularly eaten in this restaurant in its many guises it has been very good and on occasion mediocre. Under the present management of MacRaj it is back to its superb best. Tonight we were early diners the service was swift and courteous. The food was delivered in good time and was to the highest standards. I had Chicken Tikka Balti, Mushroom Rice and a Sag Aloo side dish. Good quality fresh ingredients cooked and presented beautifully. Superb and I would highly recommend dining at MacRaj. The empty plate is the best recommendation I can offer. ”
“ Top quality Indian dining. Went here for dinner while on holiday with my wife and 18 year old son. Staff were attentive, pleasant and courteous at all times. The food was amazing. My son is not too big on Indian food but he loved it. We got vegetable pakora to start. Which were clearly made there. They were fantastic. We got poppadoms and a pickle tray. The sauces and spiced Ionians were terrific. I watched my son taste everything and enjoy. The mains he got a tandoori chicken to himself with chips. Wolfed the lot. Me and the wife got the tandoori chicken, pilau rice, vegetable bhaji, chicken tikka korai and a peshwari nan bread. The chef spoke with us when we were ordering as we had asked about sauces with the tandoori chicken so he gave us a complimentary sag aloo bhaji. It was all faultless. The bill came and it was much less than we took a guess at. So excellent value for money too. It was too much food so we got a doggy bag which I enjoyed for lunch next day. I have been coming to lossiemouth for 23 years and also to this establishment for takeaways but under the previous owners and I can definitely say that this is the best meal I've had in lossiemouth in all those years. I will be recommending to others and will be back next holiday for my highlight. Thanks Macraj and keep up the good work. ”
“ My husband and I had a lovely experience last Saturday in the restaurant. We both just had mains, rice and Naan and everything was beautifully prepared and hot. My husband enjoyed the beer , brewed for the restaurant by The Black Isle brewery. Such friendly and welcoming staff as well. Looking forward to next visit. ”
“ Lovely place, great service – and truly amazing food Whenever I’m in the UK, eating at an Indian restaurant is always at the very top of my wish list – they’re consistently miles better than what I can get back home in Denmark, and this time was no exception. We had spent the day driving around small towns and soaking in the Scottish scenery, and we ended up in Lossiemouth – everyone seems to recommend a visit here. As dinnertime approached, I searched for Indian food, and your place popped up. The menu sounded great, and the reviews were good, so we decided to give it a try. And wow – you absolutely did not disappoint! We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff, a cosy atmosphere, and the food… absolutely delicious! We both had curries with rice and naan. The naan was slightly sweeter than we’re used to (especially the one with coconut, which we expected to be sweet), but that didn’t take away from the experience at all. Long story short: if you’re in Lossiemouth and love Indian food, this place is a must! ”
“ We have eaten here a few times now and the food has always been great. Tonight however, it was exceptional. The flavours in my King Prawn Biryani were amazing and a perfect blend of spices. The prawns were very fresh and cooked to perfection. With so much competition in the hospitality trade these days it is sometimes the little touches that make a difference. Attention to detail is important from a customer's point of view and I could not fault our experience tonight. The chef even left the kitchen briefly to greet us and ask if everything was OK. This is rare in most restaurants these days and was very much appreciated. There is another particular member of staff here who would be a great asset to any business and always seems to go the extra mile. I'm not going to name him but he is usually wearing a shirt and tie. His manners are impeccable and he always finds time to listen to any requests or views that you have. I hope that the service we had tonight continues and we are already looking forward to our next visit. I highly recommend this place. ”
“ My daughter ate here on holiday and raved on so much about how great it was we had to go see for ourselves. I had to admit I did not think it could be as good as she made out but fair play the food was perfect and I would recommend the experience to anyone. 5 stars all round. Spoke to the chef and everything. Such a lovely bunch in there - do yourself a favour and give it a go! ”
“ We are not locals but visiting Lossie in our motorhome. The restaurant wasn't busy but it was early on a Wednesday. The service was very good, the barman explained their new beer they had on offer which is brewed by The Black Ale Brewery, and after a small sample we were happy to have a couple of pints. All the food was lovely, chicken balti and butter chicken curries with the usual extras. The service was just as we like, check if everything is ok a couple of times and then leave you to get on with it. We will definitely return when we are next in Lossie. I did read a lot of the reviews before going tonight and some were quite scathing, but with enough well written and detailed 5 star reviews we went, and were glad we did. ”
